BROADBEACH travelled up the M1 and Bruce Highway to take on QAFL newcomers Noosa at Weyba Rd Oval, Noosa. With most of the staff and players heading up early and staying overnight Friday, it was a good opportunity for the players to bond on the road. Celebrating Brandon CHADWICK'S 100th senior game in the blue and white hoops and also the debut of Broadbeach Junior Hamilton HOWARD, the Cats started with a bang with 100 gamer nailing the first goal on the run to the joy of the travelling cats fans. A 6 goal first QTR saw the goals evenly shared, with some beautiful set shot kicking from CHADWICK and MONCRIEFF early. From there an undermanned Noosa never really threatened but never game in applying pressure to the Cats all day. Midfielders ERICKSON, LOWER, TAYLOR and ARMITAGE were magnificent again as the CATS dominated the stoppages and clearences. Matt LITTLE and Jackson FISHER were very good on the wing and Jackson FISHER with 21 disposals at a perfect efficiency saw him claim best on ground honours.
The small forward brigade dominated with Brandon CHADWICK 5 goals, Nick BURTON 5 goals and Sam JASPER 4 goals in a great small forward roving performance. Jordan MONCRIEFF booted 6 goals in another good performance taking him to 35 goals in just 6 games! No doubt Jordy will training hard to improve his accuracy for this weekend! James GLEDHILL yet again was solid down back stamping his authority as one of the best key defenders in the competition. GLEDHILL also managed to sneak forward on the weekend and kick his first goal in the blue and white hoops. A 113 point victory, Craig O'Brien was a very impressed coach but emphasised to the players that we now have a big block of tough games coming up and that we need to lift our standards for the next block of games.

The reserves also had a solid win after a shaky start. Cody GRANT and Richard KERR were very solid contributors in a team that has now won 3 in a row. Thanks to the 4 reserves players (MUNRO, TONKS, CONLAN, LE QUENSE) who backed up to play colts on the weekend, a sign of commitment from those lads. The colts had a tough defeat to a strong Noosa colts but the boys will be stronger this week back at home and hopefully will be back on the winners list. The WOMENS had a nail biting defeat to Southport. A scoreless last QTR saw the Cats go down by just 2 points and no doubt Garry and the girls will be looking for a bit more this weekend to get back in the winners circle.
