Cats Victorious in Return to Subaru Oval

To the great credit and quick thinking of the Football Department and a spirit of cooperation by the cricket club, we were able to host Bond Uni after their ground was deemed not playable for a match that did not carry premiership points on Friday afternoon.

Bond to their credit brought strong pressure and moved the ball nicely in patches, however as expected Broadbeach were able to control the majority of the game and record a comfortable victory 22. 23. 155 to 5.1. 31.

The most notable performance of the day was by Lucas JELLYMAN-TURNER, playing for the first time in Cats colours. Assuming a “quarterback” type role across half back it was apparent very early that LJT will be a great addition to the back 6, with a best afield display. NELSON and SEARL were again very solid and able to create excellent rebound from the back half.

ERICKSON was relishing playing on ball and got plenty of it and ARMITAGE is certainly a beneficiary of the man on the mark rule with his run and carry contributing to many forward 50 entries. The opposition found SELSBY near on impossible to tackle, and he looks like he will be a handy addition to the midfield after playing mostly as a forward in his senior appearances last year.

Up forward, all players benefitted from strong supply but all looked good at different times in their own right, although the mayor was the dominant forward on the day with 9 majors.

In the earlier 2 * 30 min match sim training, CUNNINGTON, SEMMLER and MCMAHON were dominant against an undermanned Bond Uni outfit.

Later in the club, a great day was rounded off with an awesome atmosphere and encouraging player auction results.

The CATS now complete their pre-season this Wednesday night in a match simulation training session at SUBARU OVAL starting at 6:30pm!
