R12 PREVIEW: TOP OF THE TABLE CLASH AWAITS

ROUND 11 PREVIEW: CATS V LABRADOR

Broadbeach will look at extend a recent history of wins v second placed Labrador away from home in the match of the round which will be live streamed at https://www.aflq.com.au/qafl-live/.

After a forthright review of last weeks loss Tuesday evening, coach O’Brien has opted against wholesale changes after last week’s disappointing loss naming just the 2 changes from last week. The club is proud to announce a ninth teenaged debutant for tomorrow’s match with ex Cairns Saint, GC Suns and AFL Academy player Austin HARRIS being promoted for his senior debut. Aussie certainly looks a classy prospect with his disposal by foot a feature in last week’s development team match. Also into the side is young talent Bodhi UWLAND who is taking great strides in his development each week prior Suns Academy duties. Connor MUNRO and Al RAYNER have been omitted.

Selection at Labrador is a bit of a mystery with big name players Goldsmith and Retzlaff named as emergencies but nobody would be surprised if one or both ended up playing. On paper the game seems evenly matched Labrador being well served by the likes of Meagher, Simpson and ex AFL Lion and Sun Pearce Hanley. They are also bolstered by some 5 Sharks listed players for tomorrows battle.

A highlight will be seeing how the Cats engine room responds this week after at times over-using the footy last week, and ultimately for probably the first time all year being outworked by an opposition. The fixture at home in round one saw the Cats prevail by 32 points, and the ability of our players to maintain intensity towards the end of quarters the main difference between the sides. Similar to round one the players will look to play an open style of football, with Cooke Murphy being a similar size to our home deck.

Our Development Team and Colts will go in as underdogs this week with Labrador undefeated in both grades, however the coaches are quietly confident of a strong showing.

Our senior women’s teams will round out the evening with a double header at Surfers. Both sides were super in achieving wins last week and will be looking to back this up against top opposition in the Demons.

Good luck to all teams.
